Softball Heads to Indianapolis For Opening Round

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College softball team will travel to the campus of Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana for their opening round contests of the NAIA Softball World Series. They enter the four-team double-elimination bracket as the #3-seed and will take on the #2-seed in Middle Georgia State University in the first game.

Monday, May 15th

  • Game 1: #2 Middle Georgia State vs. #3 Columbia – 10:00AM (CST)
  • Game 2: #1 Marian University vs. #4 Tennessee Wesleyan – 12:30PM (CST)

Tuesday, May 16th

  • Game 3: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2 – 10:00AM (CST)
  • Game 4: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 – 12:20PM (CST)
  • Game 5: Loser Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4 – 3:00PM (CST)

Wednesday, May 17th

  • Game 6: Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 5 – 11:00AM (CST)
  • Game 7: If necessary – Loser Game 6 vs. Winner Game 6

Ticket Information:
Tickets will be $10 for a general day pass, while children five and under are free. Tickets can be purchased on-site with cash or card each day. There is no online link. 

Live Video:
Live streaming of each game of the Opening Round will be provided at a rate of $7.99 per game, and a daily pass per day. Monday’s daily pass is $12.99 and Tuesday’s is $15.99. 

How They Qualified:

  1. Marian University (Ind.) – The No.9-team in the last edition of the NAIA rankings, the Knights finished the regular season 42-6, including a 2-2 record against #16 Indiana Wesleyan and a 3-1 record against #25 Mount Vernon Nazarene. Marian rolled through the Crossroads League Tournament, going 3-0 with another win over #25 Mount Vernon Nazarene. They enter the opening round as the host site with a 45-6 record. 
  2. Middle Georgia State University – The #16-team in the NAIA rankings, the Knights sit at 42-12 after finishing first in the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament. MGSU had a 9-7 record against ranked opponents this season, with their most notable performance coming against then-ranked #1 University of Mobile (Ala.) with a 2-0 doubleheader sweep.
  3. Columbia College – The Cougars powered through the AMC tournament, picking up two huge wins over (RV) Cottey College, including a win in the tournament championship game. Columbia sits at 24-17, playing a very competitive schedule to open their season as they picked up a win over (RV) Ottawa University and then over #25 Saint Xavier University. 
  4. Tennessee Wesleyan – The Bulldogs used two wins over (RV) Reinhardt in the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament to claim the championship title, marking their second consecutive title.
