Slaughter Earns All-SEC Freshman Team Honors

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball freshman guard Grace Slaughter has been named to the All-SEC Freshman Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Earning starts in 28 of 29 games this season, Slaughter ranks third among first-year conference players in scoring at 11.4 points per game.

The freshman scored in double-figures 20 times on the year including in 13 of 16 conference matchups.

Entering postseason play, Slaughter ranks fifth in program history among freshmen with 331 points and is tied for third among all Missouri first-year players in free throw percentage at 80.6%.

Efficient from beyond the arc, the guard ranks ninth in the conference in 3-point percentage at 37.0 while making 34 triples on the year, fifth most by a Tiger freshman.

In her collegiate debut against Belmont on Nov. 6, Slaughter became the first Tiger to record a double-double in their opening appearance since Sophie Cunningham in 2015.

Slaughter is the 10th player in program history to be named to the all-freshman team joining current Tigers Mama Dembele, Hayley Frank and Ashton Judd.

The former McDonalds All-American was the No. 1 ranked recruit in Missouri out of Grain Valley High School.
