Sheremeta Set to Compete at the NCAA Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Fifth year Alisa Sheremeta of the No. 14 University of Missouri gymnastics team earned an individual berth to the 2023 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships following their performances at the 2021 NCAA Los Angeles Regional Second Round on March 30th.

SHEREMETA TO COMPETE AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • Sheremeta competes in the first semifinal session on Thursday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. CT at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
  • The semifinals will be televised live on ESPN2, with individual event feeds available for all four events on ESPN.com/watch.
  • Sheremeta notched a 9.95 on beam, which tied her career-best, to earn her spot to the NCAA Championships. Her score was matched by one other non-qualifying individual but Sheremeta claimed the berth on the second tiebreaker, which was the highest head judge score.
  • The fifth year stand as the 14th Tiger gymnasts to earn individual qualifications to NCAAs in program history.
  • Sheremeta helped the Tigers finish 14th in the final national rankings after the squad advanced to the NCAA Los Angeles Regional Final.
  • Alisa will rotate with Denver in the first semifinal, scheduled to compete in the third rotation.

SHEREMETA CAME UP STRONG AS A FIFTH YEAR

  • A three-event competitor, Sheremeta was in the floor, beam and bars lineups in all 13 meets this season.
  • She accumulated nine scores of 9.9 or better on floor on the season, and notched scores of 9.875 in the second round and a 9.9 in the regional final 
  • Sheremeta  also tallied career-highs of 9. in the NCAA second round.
