Scopel Accepts New Strength and Conditioning Position for Milb

Columbia, Mo. – Former Columbia College Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Spenser Scopel has begun his new position as Milb DSL Strength and Conditioning Coach with the San Francisco Giants organization.

Scopel spent began his time at Columbia College in August 2022 before starting his new position in February. He spent the past month in Phoenix, Arizona during spring training and has since relocated to the Dominican Republic to work with the Dominican Summer League team.

“I’ll miss everyone dearly,” Scopel remarked. “I owe the coaches, athletes, and staff an unpayable debt for making CC feel like home. I look forward to continuing to follow along with the success of the program.”
 
Scopel came to Columbia after serving as the Personal Training Director at Fit City Gym in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to his time in St. Louis, Scopel was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the University of North Alabama for three years. There he assisted with the planning and implementation of training sessions for all teams. Spenser also spent time interning at Iowa State University and also at Rice University.

Scopel earned his Masters of Science in Kinesiology from University of North Alabama and his Bachelors in Exercise Science from University of Missouri-St. Louis. His credentials include NCSA-CSCS, NSCA-CPT, and USAW-Sports Performance Coach certification amongst others.
