Schwartz, Morris Pace Cross Country at NCAA Midwest Regional

2023 Cross Country NCAA Midwest Regional

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Cross Country men’s and women’s teams placed 11th and 12th respectively at the NCAA Midwest Regional Friday Morning at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla.

The Tiger men concluded the race with 343 points while the Missouri women finished with 352.

Jenna Schwartz was the Tigers’ top overall finisher on the day as the senior claimed 35th in the 6k with a time of 21:29.4.

Junior Blake Morris led the Mizzou men in the 10k as he crossed the line 49th in 31:46.6.

The hosts claimed the top spot in each of the races as the Cowboys’ Billah Jepkirui topped the women’s field in 20:28.4.

Oklahoma State’s Denis Kipngetich paced the men’s field in 29:39.2.

The Cowboys also notched the top spot in each of the respective team standings.

NOTABLE RESULTS

  • Senior Mikayla Reed was the second Tiger to reach the finish as she completed the course in 21:44.3
  • Junior Austin Popplewell placed 57th with a time of 31:57.2
  • Sophomore Drew Rogers concluded his second-year campaign in 65th with a time of 32:04.2
  • Junior Nicole Louw ran a time of 21:53.5 to finish 59th
  • Sophomore Kaia Downs finished in 22:20.7 to claim 95th
  • Senior Jack Warner came across 80th with a mark of 32:19.3

UP NEXT

The 2023 DI men’s and women’s cross country selection show will air on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. ET live on NCAA.com. The complete tournament field will be posted here shortly after it is unveiled.

31 teams per gender will be selected for the championships. 18 on each side will automatically qualify (two per region, from regional championships) while the remaining 13 for each of the men’s and women’s championships will be picked at large.
