DETROIT – University of Missouri edge rusher Darius Robinson was selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the 27th pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Mizzou’s last first-round selection was Charles Harris in 2017 (No. 22/Dolphins) and Robinson is the first MU player selected by the Cardinals since Evan Boehm in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Robinson saw his draft stock increase following a strong week at the Reese’s Senior Bowl where he was named “overall practice player of the week” by NFL scouts and executives along with a strong performance at the NFL Combine.

The Cardinals have selected 22 Mizzou players through their history, including two first rounders – Robinson (2024), Steve Pisarkiewicz (1977) and Roger Wehrli (1969) – when they were the St. Louis Cardinals.

Robinson, a Southfield, Michigan native, was named a 2023 First-Team All-Southeastern Conference selection (AP and Coaches), helping anchor a Tigers’ defense that ranks fourth in the SEC against the run (122.8 ypg) and total defense (336.1 ypg). On the season, he recorded 43 total tackles, 8.5 sacks and 14 tackles for losses, all of which led all Mizzou defensive linemen.

The First-Team Academic All-American carried a 3.65 GPA in his positive coaching and athletic leadership program, including a 4.0 GPA during the Fall 2023 semester.

Off the field, he earned the 2024 Arthur Ashe Jr. Male and Scholar of the Year award. His community projects with local schools have been numerous; the Columbia (Missouri) branch of the NAACP recently recognized him with the appreciation award for community service. Robinson established the Darius Robinson Helping Hands Foundation in the fall of 2023. His foundation has been responsible for a back-to-school drive and fundraising efforts that supported two local families during the holiday season.
