Popplewell, Schwartz Pace Cross Country at SEC Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Cross Country’s men’s and women’s teams each placed ninth at the 2023 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships Friday morning at the Charwood Golf Club in Columbia, S.C.

The Missouri men totaled 232 points while the women tabbed 265.

Austin Popplewell led the Tigers in the championship 8k as the sophomore placed 37th with a time of 24:25.4.

Senior Jenna Schwartz paced the Missouri women with a 6k time of 21:13.1 to finish 41st.

NOTABLE RESULTS

• An All-SEC Freshman Team member a season ago, Drew Rogers claimed 39th with a time of 24:29.0
• Ryder James was the third Tiger across the line in 45th with a time of 24:45.8
• Kaia Downs was the second women’s finisher for Missouri as she claimed 59th with a time of 21:37.1 to finish 59th
• Ginger Murnieks (21:39.6), Isabelle Christiansen (21:39.8) and Nicole Louw (21:39.8) finished 61st, 62nd and 63rd respectively.
