No. 25 Tigers Take Series From Aggies

NCAA SB: Mizzou vs. Texas A&M

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 25 Missouri softball (31-17, 10-9 SEC) took the series from Texas A&M (27-20, 5-15 SEC) with a 7-2 win on Saturday afternoon. Laurin Krings picked up the complete game victory while Kimberly Wert and Kara Daly both homered.

RECAP

Mizzou jumped in front right away. After a Wilmes walk, Kendyll Bailey ripped a double into the left center gap to put two runners in scoring position. Kimberly Wert lifted a sacrifice fly into right field to make it 1-0 in the first inning.

After escaping a jam in the first, Laurin Krings battled her way out of another in the second inning. With two on and two out, the sophomore forced slugger Haley Lee to ground out to third, retiring the side.

The Tigers exploded for four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Jenna Laird and Brooke Wilmes each reached on infield singles to lead off the inning. After a double steal put them in scoring position, Kimberly Wert crushed a 1-2 pitch over the center field wall to make it 4-0 for Missouri. The rally continued after back-to-back walks to Alex Honnold and Kara Daly let to an Emma Raabe RBI single to put the score at 5-0.

Kara Daly extended the Mizzou lead to seven with a two-run shot to right field in the bottom of the fifth. The Tigers put two runners in scoring position but could not bring around the eighth run to end the game.

The Aggies got on the board with a Katie Dack solo homer in the sixth inning. The visitors added one more in the seventh inning after Haley Lee doubled and scored on a Morgan Smith single. Laurin Krings worked out of the jam and earned her 13th win of the season.
