No. 2 Georgia Outlasts No. 12 Football

Cody Schrader

Athens, Ga. – The No. 12 Missouri football team threatened to end the nation’s longest winning streak on Saturday afternoon but No. 2 Georgia escaped with a 30-21 home victory to extend its unbeaten run to 26 games.

Two third-quarter touchdowns put the hosts in front by 11, 24-13, but Mizzou (7-2, 3-2 SEC) pulled to within a single score when Cody Schrader found the endzone with 12:50 remaining in the game. The Tigers held the Bulldogs (9-0, 6-0 SEC) to a field goal on the ensuing possession but a turnover on the next MU drive allowed followed by another Georgia field goal led to the nine-point win, 30-21.

Schrader ran for 112 years and one touchdown on 22 attempts, while Theo Wease Jr. corralled five receptions for 90 yards. Ty’Ron Hopper led the Tigers defense with 10 tackles, including one sack on the day.

Missouri aims to rebound next weekend, hosting Tennessee at Faurot Field.
