No. 14 Gymnastics Hosts Mizzou to the Lou Event In St. Charles

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 14-ranked University of Missouri gymnastics team (6-2, 2-2 SEC) travels to St. Charles for the Mizzou to the Lou meet on Friday, Feb. 16, for a showdown against No. 6 Florida (6-1 3-1 SEC), Illinois (6-4 1-3 B1G), and Lindenwood (8-2 3-1 MIC). First touch from Family Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, and doors open at 5 p.m. The action will be broadcast on Friday Night Heights on SEC Network. 

LAST TIME OUT
  • The No. 12 Tigers traveled to Lexington and fought a hard battle against No. 5 Kentucky, ultimately falling to the Wildcats, 197.350-196.600, last Friday night. 
  • Missouri set its second-best bars score in program history with a 49.425 and tied its ninth-best floor score with a 49.525.
  • Mara Titarsolej shared the bars title with a 9.950 while Jocelyn Moore earned a share of the floor title with a 9.975 tying her career high and the Missouri gymnastics record. 
MOORE EARNS SEC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
  • Junior Jocelyn Moore earned the SEC Specialist of the Week with the most complete performance of her collegiate career.
  • The Hillsborough, New Jersey, native scored three routines of 9.9 or higher in one meet for the first time in her career. She picked up 9.900s on both vault and bars, while tying her personal and program best on floor with a near-perfect 9.975.
  • The award is the second time Moore has earned Specialist of the Week honors, with the first coming off her perfect 10 vault against No. 5 Auburn on Feb. 19, 2023.
IN THE RANKINGS
  • The Fab Floor held its standing at No. 6 in the rankings, upping its season average to 49.475.
  • After last weekend’s performance the bar group upped its standing by one position to No. 14 while increasing its average score to 49.217.
  • Missouri’s vault ranking sits at No. 11, the team’s best through six weeks since 2017 with a 49.275 average.
  • On beam, Missouri checks in at No. 22 with a 49.029 season average.
WE WANT SOME MOORE
  • Junior Jocelyn Moore has been on an absolute heater to start the season, becoming one of the top event specialists in the country.
  • With her 9.975 at Kentucky last weekend, Moore now has nine consecutive 9.9 floor routines dating back to the 2023 SEC Championship. She is also one of just two SEC gymnasts to hit a 9.9 or higher on every floor routine in 2024 alongside LSU’s Haleigh Bryant.
  • Thanks to her consistency to start the season, Moore is tied for No. 4 in the country with a 9.938 season average.
  • The two-time WCGA Regular-Season All-American First Team selection on vault has also continued her strength in that event, ranking No. 22 with a 9.875 composite score.
MARA MADNESS
  • As her first season as a Tiger reaches the halfway point, senior Mara Titarsolej has continued her reputation as one of the best bars swingers in the nation.
  • Titarsolej shared the bars title at Kentucky with a 9.950, tying Raena Worley for the event title. 
  • The Zutphen, Netherlands, product is currently ranked No. 18 with a 9.900 season average and has scored three 9.9s in the last four meets on bars.
QUEEN CELESTINE
  • Junior Amari Celestine woke up feeling dangerous on the floor at Kentucky.
  • The Wildomar, California, native lit up the floor with a 9.950, notching a season-best score in the process.
  • Celestine has recorded a 9.9 or higher score on all three events this season and is ranked No. 25 in the country on vault.
INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
  • The Tigers have at least one gymnast ranked among the top 25 on three of the four events
  • Three Tiger vaulters — Hannah Horton (No. 18, 9.879 average), Jocelyn Moore (No. 22, 9.875 average) and Amari Celestine (No. 25, 9.871 average) — ranked in the top 25. Missouri is one of just three teams in the country with a trio of vault performers ranked in the top 25.
  • On bars, Mara Titarsolej is ranked No. 18 with a 9.900 season average.
  • Moore checks in as the highest-ranked Tiger on any event, tying for fourth in the country on floor with a 9.938 composite score.
LAST TIME VS. FLORIDA
  • The last time Missouri and Florida faced off came on Feb. 10, 2023 in Gainesville, Florida, with the No. 3 Gators defeating the No. 15 Tigers 196.625-198.350
  • Jocelyn Moore scored a 9.925 to earn a vault title over No. 3 Florida, while Sienna Schreiber and Alisa Sheremeta notched a 9.950 and 9.925, respectively.
LAST TIME VS. ILLINOIS
  • The last time the Tigers faced the Fighting Illini was Jan. 8, 2023, where No. 9 Missouri prevailed over No. 23 Illinois, 196.425-196.275.
  • The Tigers set the program beam record of 49.525, which still stands today. Helen Hu and Sienna Schreiber each scored a 9.950 as Mizzou claimed its season opener.
LAST TIME VS. LINDENWOOD
  • Missouri and Lindenwood have already faced off once this season at the season-opening Mizzou Invitational on Jan. 6, 2024, where the Tigers triumphed, 197.150-194.000.
  • Missouri claimed all four event titles, with Moore and Schreiber earning floor and beam titles in addition to Hollyn Patrick scoring the bars title and Amari Celestine and Hannah Horton sharing the vault crown.
ALL-TIME VS. OPPONENTS
  • Florida has the lead over Missouri in the all time series, 19-1.
  • The Tigers lead the Fighting Illini in the all time series, 19-9.
  • Missouri holds a 15-1 lead over Lindenwood in the all-time series.
