No. 13/14 Auburn Defeats Men’s Basketball

Columbia, Mo. – University of Missouri men’s basketball fell to Auburn, 101-74, on Tuesday night inside Mizzou Arena.

Graduate guard Sean East II led Missouri offensively with 21 points, including 12-for-13 from the charity stripe. Junior Tamar Bates and graduate Nick Honor also scored in double figures for MU, finishing with 12 and 11, respectively.

Missouri was paced early on by Bates who scored the first seven, en route to a 7-4 Mizzou lead. Auburn answered the early start with a 16-5 run, spanning over five minutes, to pull ahead by eight, 20-12, with its advantage ranging between two and 10 for the remainder of the half. MU pushed to close the half, using a 93.8 (15-for-16) free-throw percentage to stay within five, 44-39.

Auburn sprinted to a 10-2 start out of halftime, giving the visitors a lead of 13. Auburn continued to control the interior, scoring 22 of its first 39 second half points inside the paint increasing its lead to 20, one they would not relinquish on its way to a 101-74 victory.

Missouri shot 33.9 percent from the field in the contest, while connecting on 31-of-35 from the free throw line. Auburn finished the game shooting 52.3 percent from the field, and recorded 22 second chance points along with 48 inside the paint.
