Moore’s Perfect 10 Caps off the Upset Against No. 5 Auburn

COLUMBIA, Mo. The No. 16 University of Missouri gymnastics team pulled off one its best performances in program history, defeating No. 5 Auburn, 197.450-196.550. Starting off strong in front of a gymnastics record 6,041 fans at the Hearnes Center, the Tigers opened the meet with their second-best performance on the opening two rotations and closed out the meet to earn the fourth-best score in program history.

VAULT

Missouri continued its outing with the vault rotation, led by Moore in the bottom half of the lineup with a perfect 10.000. It counted as the third perfect score in program history, and only the second Mizzou gymnast to tally a perfect ten following Lauren Schwartzman’s two perfect performances in 2004. The perfect vault score proved to be the first on the apparatus in program history, and first of Moore’s collegiate career. 

Sophomore Grace Ann Davis (9.850), graduate student Hannah McCrary (9.825), freshman Addison Lawrence (9.775) and Celestine (9.875) additionally partook in the event. Schreiber finished with a nearly flawless outing with a 9.900. The Tigers finished their second rotation with a 49.450, tying the program record in the event.

BARS

The Tigers’ bar rotation scored a collective 49.175 with senior Helen Hu leading the charge scoring 9.9. 

Senior Sienna Schreiber (9.875), sophomore Amari Celestine (9.825), junior Kyra Burns (9.85), sophomore Jocelyn Moore (9.8) and graduate student Alisa Sheremeta (9.8) also competed in the rotation.

BEAM 

To open Mizzou’s beam rotation, Lawrence began with a score of 9.800. Sheremeta held the team’s high score for the rotation with a 9.875. 

McCrary (9.800), Davis (9.850), and Hu (9.825) all contributed to the Tiger win with a rotation team score of 49.150 and entered the final rotation with a score of 148.225.

FLOOR

In the floor rotation, Sheremeta and Celestine led the Tigers with a 9.95 finish. Moore finished behind them with a 9.925, followed by Kratzer with a 9.900, McCrary with a 9.875, and Schreiber with a 9.85.

Missouri scored a 49.6 — for the final team score of 196.975 to secure the win against Auburn

UP NEXT

The Tigers have a quick turnaround, hitting the road Friday to take on No. 14 Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. The meet will start at 8 p.m. and will broadcast on SEC Network.
