Moore Tabbed For SEC Specialist of the Week

Jocelyn Moore at Kentucky

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri gymnastics junior Jocelyn Moore earned SEC Specialist of the Week honors for the second time in her career, the conference announced Tuesday.

Moore continued her scorching-hot start to the season with a trio of routines that went 9.9 or higher. It is the first time in Moore’s career that she posted a 9.9 or better in three events, and the Hillsborough, New Jersey, native was the only SEC event specialist to hit three 9.9 routines this weekend.

On bars, Moore posted a 9.900 for a season-best score, and on vault, the junior notched a 9.900, marking her third 9.9 on the event in the last four meets. For her final event, Moore executed her second near-perfect score of the season with a 9.975 to share the floor title with Kentucky’s Raena Worley. It extended her 9.9 floor streak to nine consecutive meets dating back to the 2023 SEC Championship, and she is the one of just two SEC gymnasts with a 9.9 on every floor routine this season (other is LSU’s Haleigh Bryant).

This is Moore’s first SEC Specialist of the Week honor of 2024 and the second of her collegiate career, with the first honor coming on the heels of a perfect 10 on vault and a 9.925 on floor in last season’s upset of No. 5 Auburn on Feb. 19, 2023. Moore is the second Missouri gymnast to take home the SEC Specialist of the Week award, following Mara Titarsolej, who took home the accolade following her record-breaking bars routine at No. 20 Georgia on Jan. 20.
