Mizzou Hosts Florida, Game Moved Up to 2 p.m.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri men’s basketball team returns home, Wednesday, Feb. 2 as they are set to host the Florida Gators inside Mizzou Arena. Due to inclement weather expected in Columbia, the game has been adjusted to a 2 p.m. CT start time. The broadcast will remain on SEC Network with Roy Philpott and Mark Wise on the call, with Mike Kelly and Chris Gervino having the game on Tiger Radio Network.  

All fans are directed to use Parking Lot P. Doors will open to fans one hour prior to tip. Mizzou asks all fans traveling to the Arena to use caution, travel safely and check road conditions. Limited concessions will be available and the Clinton Club will be closed. 

The Tigers’ previously scheduled Michael Porter Jr. bobblehead giveaway and $1 ticket promotion will be postponed for another date, to be determined at a later time.

MIZZOU HEADLINES

  • Mizzou is coming off back-to-back games against ranked opponents, where the Tigers took No. 1 Auburn to the wire before also losing to No. 23 Iowa State.
  • DaJuan Gordon had one of his best games of the season against the Cyclones, with a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds. His 15 points came on 5-of-8 shooting and a 2-of-4 mark from behind the arc.
  • Against SEC opponents, Jarron Coleman is shooting 38.5 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from three. He has 12-striaght games with a made three and is 13th in SEC play in assists per game (3.7).
  • Kobe Brown continues to prove himself as one of the SEC’s elite rebounders, ranking fourth in the conference with 8.5 rebounds per game across the season.
  • Mizzou’s strength of schedule ranks fifth in the nation, according to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index. The Tigers have faced off against four top-25 opponents this season, including another two against top-25 NET teams.
  • Mizzou is 8-1 this season when outrebounding its opponents and 6-0 when shooting 50 percent or higher from the floor.
  • Amari Davis is a threat for Mizzou off the bench, with double-digit scoring efforts in three of the Tiger’s last four games. Davis highlighted his season with a perfect 10-for-10 performance and 23 points on the road against Ole Miss.

THE SERIES                                                                                                                                               

  • Florida owns the all-time series lead, 7-4, however Mizzou has won the last two-straight against the Gators.
  • The two programs had never met prior to Missouri joining the SEC in 2013.
  • Missouri got its first-ever win in Gainesville last season thanks to a Dru Smith game-winning layup with under a second left.
  • Mizzou is 3-2 all-time in Mizzou Arena against the Gators.

SCOUTING FLORIDA                                                                                                                              

  • After back-to-back losses, Florida picked up a win in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge with an 81-72 victory against Oklahoma State.
  • The Gators are 3-5 in SEC play and 1-4 on the road this year.
  • Florida ranks second in the SEC in three-point field goal attempts, but rank 12th in three-point percentage at 29.9 percent.
  • The Gators are 12th nationally in blocked shots per game and second in the conference, but have been without their leading shot blocker Colin Castleton since Jan. 15.
  • Without Castleton, Tyree Appleby has led the Gators in scoring in back-to-back games with 21 and 16 points.
  • Mike White is in his seventh-year at Florida, holding a 136-83 record as the Gators’ head coach.

UP NEXT

Mizzou heads out for back-to-back road games against Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. The Tigers will head to College Station, Texas for a 3 p.m. tip on Feb. 5 on ESPN2.
