2023 NCAA Tournament Reveal

Columbia, Mo. – The Missouri men’s basketball team learned its postseason fate on Sunday, earning the No. 7 seed in the South Regional and facing No. 10 Utah State on Thursday, March 16.

Squaring off in Sacramento, California, the Tigers and Aggies will tip off at 12:40 p.m. CT (10:40 a.m. local time) on TNT. Mizzou earned its highest seed since 2012, marking just the fourth time in the last 29 seasons the Tigers have been seeded higher than an eight seed. The winner advances to play the winner of No. 2 Arizona and No. 15 Princeton on Saturday.

Mizzou and Utah State have met on two prior occasions – playing a home-and-home series in 1967 and 1968. Both schools won on their home court with the Aggies claiming an 87-81 victory in their first meeting before the Tigers returned the favor a year later with a 97-87 win.

The Tigers are set to compete in their 29th NCAA Tournament and first in two years. Overall, Mizzou owns 22 victories in the national championship, advancing as far as the Elite Eight five times in its history (1944, 1976, 1994, 2002 and 2009).

Under first-year Whitten Family Men’s Basketball Head Coach Dennis Gates, Mizzou posted a 24-9 record during the 2022-23 campaign – its most wins in 11 years. The Tigers also matched their best SEC record in school history with 11 conference victories, while advancing to the league semifinals for the first time.
