Mizzou Athletics Excels in the Classroom During Spring Semester

The Missouri Athletic Department continues to set records outside of competition as the school’s student-athletes established a new standard during the Spring 2022 semester.

The Tigers posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.35 – topping the previous record for any semester of 3.32, set in the fall of this season. It also broke the previous standard for the spring semester of 3.21 – set in 2021. It marks the 13th-straight semester that Mizzou Athletics has surpassed a combined GPA of 3.0.

Overall, 74 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester, while 258 finished with a 3.50 or higher and 370 recorded at least a 3.0. Additionally, 202 competitors earned Dean’s List recognition, marking the seventh-straight semester with at 200 honorees.

Below are individual program highlights from Mizzou’s 2023 spring semester.

Baseball
• 3.12 team GPA – second-highest spring semester in program history behind 2020 COVID semester
• Seventh-straight semester above a 3.0
• 12 players earned Dean’s List honors
• Five student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA

Men’s Basketball
• Program-record 3.00 GPA for the spring semester
• Two student-athletes received Dean’s List honors

Women’s Basketball
• Recorded its highest-ever GPA in any semester at 3.53
• Two 4.0 GPAs and eight student-athletes above a 3.5.
• Six student-athletes received Dean’s List honors

Football
• 3.08 grade point average – program’s second highest in a spring semester behind 2020 COVID semester
• Three student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA with 32 registering a 3.5 or higher
• 23 players earned Dean’s List recognition

Men’s Golf
• Led all men’s sports with a 3.48 grade point average – second highest spring semester in program history
• Two Dean’s List honorees and two student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA

Women’s Golf
• 3.57 overall team GPA
• Fifth-straight semester with a GPA above a 3.5
• Two student-athletes with a perfect 4.0, while eight posted at least a 3.5
• Five players earned Dean’s List recognition

Gymnastics
• Recorded its second-highest GPA in any semester with a 3.55
• Registered its 13th-straight semester of a GPA higher than 3.0
• Eight gymnasts tallied a prefect 4.0 GPA with 17 finishing with a 3.5 or higher
• 10 student-athletes collected Dean’s List honors

Soccer
• Led all programs with a Mizzou-best 3.79 grade point average
• Highest recorded GPA in any semester, surpassing the previous record of 3.65 set in the fall of this academic year
• Fifth-straight semester with a team GPA of 3.4 or higher
• 11 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA with 28-of-34 players finishing with a 3.5 or higher
• Led all Mizzou programs with 27 Dean’s List honorees

Softball
• Recorded a program-best 3.59 grade point average during the semester
• 18th-straight semester with a GPA above a 3.0
• Two student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA
• 17-of-25 players posted at least a 3.50 GPA
• 16 student-athletes received Dean’s List recognition

Men’s Swim & Dive
• 3.29 overall team GPA
• 17th-straight semester above a 3.0
• 13 student-athletes received Dean’s List honors

Women’s Swim & Dive
• Recorded a 3.71 grade point average – tied for the second-best mark by a Mizzou program
• Eighth-straight semester with a team GPA above a 3.50
• Seven student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA with 25-of-31 finishing with a 3.50 or higher
• 24 received Dean’s List recognition – the third-most of any Mizzou program

Tennis
• Recorded a 3.71 grade point average – tied for the second-best mark by a Mizzou program
• Ninth-straight semester with a team GPA above a 3.50 – the longest active run by any Mizzou team
• Nine of 10 tennis players posted a GPA of 3.50 or higher during the spring semester
• Eight were named to their respective Dean’s List

Men’s Cross Country
• Recorded a 3.45 grade point average – its second-highest during a spring semester with only the 2020 COVID year placing higher
• Three student-athletes posted a 4.0 GPA with 18 finishing with at least a 3.50

Men’s Track & Field
• Registered a 3.41 grade point average – the program’s highest-ever GPA in any semester
• Surpassed the previous non-COVID record of 3.27, set in Fall 2011
• Six student-athletes collected a 4.0 GPA with 40-of-49 finishing with a 3.0 or higher
• 19 earned Dean’s List recognition

Women’s Cross Country
• Finished with a 3.66 team GPA – its highest since recording a 3.71 during the 2021 fall semester
• Six of 11 runners earned a 3.5 or higher

Women’s Track & Field
• Earned a 3.52 grade point average
• The team’s ninth-straight semester with a 3.40 or higher
• Led all Mizzou programs with 14 student-athletes posting a perfect 4.0 GPA
• Overall, 30-of-48 student-athletes posted a 3.50 or higher
• 25 received Dean’s List recognition – the second-most of any Mizzou program

Volleyball
• 3.21 overall team GPA
• 24th-straight semester above a 3.0 as a team
• Four student-athletes received Dean’s List honors

Wrestling
• 2.98 overall team GPA
• Six 4.0 GPAs and 28 student-athletes above a 3.0 GPA
• Nine student-athletes received Dean’s List recognition
