Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season Monday at Arizona

The Missouri men’s golf team tees off its spring season this week, competing at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz., hosted by the University of Arizona, Jan. 29-30.

TOURNAMENT INFO
Action begins on Monday, Jan. 29 on the Catalina Course at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club, an 18-hole, 7,262-yard course. The challenging course features eight lakes and more than 80 bunkers.

MU will be competing against a crowded field of Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Fresno State, Iowa State, LMU, New Mexico, San Diego, Santa Clara, St. Mary’s, Stanford, TCU, Texas A&M, West Virginia and Wyoming.

The schools will play 36 holes during the opening day of action, teeing off at 9:30 a.m. CT before 18 holes on Tuesday with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.

TOUGH COMPETITION
Three squads competing in the invitational are ranked in the Golf Coaches Association of America Top 25, with Arizona State ranked fourth, Arizona at 17th, and Texas A&M at 24th. 

Three other teams (New Mexico, LMU, and TCU) are receiving votes.

FALL RECAP
The Tigers finished the fall season ranked No. 35 nationally and 10th among SEC schools. The highlight of the fall campaign was claiming a share of the Chicago Highlands Invitational, which included a win over No. 12 Virginia on the final hole of the event.

Individually, Jack Lundin leads Mizzou with a 70.07 stroke average and ranks 55th nationally with two top two finishes in six fall events.

LAST TIME OUT
Mizzou closed out their fall season competing in The Williams Cup in Wilmington, N.C. The Tigers finished the tourney in eighth place as a team, with Lundin placing 11th (+2) individually.
