Men’s Golf Claims Team, Individual Titles at Turning Stone Intercollegiate

VERONA, New York – Trailing by 11 strokes to begin the final round the Mizzou Men’s Golf team rallied back and carded a 6-under 282 to finish 17-under (847) and claim the Turning Stone Intercollegiate team title at Kaluhyat Golf Club on Monday. Senior Jack Parker collected his first career victory sharing the individual title posting a 9-under 207.

Three Tigers finished in the top 10 led by Parker who in the final round carded a 2-under 70 to claim a share of the Turning Stone Intercollegiate individual title with LSU’s Michael Sanders.  It’s the first career victory for Parker who shot a 54-hole career low 207.

Parker trailed by two strokes heading into the final round but tallied three birdies during the final six holes on the front nine to regain the lead before shooting even par on the back nine to claim the individual title.

Finishing runner-up was sophomore Jack Lundin at 6-under (210). During the final round Lundin posted a 1-under 71 with four birdies including three on the back nine. Lundin led the tournament after the first round carding a 5-under 67 before shooting even par in the second round.

Rounding out the Tigers in the top 10 was senior Tommy Boone who finished seventh with a 4-under 212. Boone moved up seven spots during the final round thanks to a 3-under 69, tied for the best round of the day.

Junior Yu-Ta Tsai claimed an 18th place finish on Monday after shooting even par to post a 2-over 218. Playing in his first collegiate tournament freshman Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson finished tied for 26th while junior Michael Terblanche rounded out the scoring finishing tied for 64th.

Mizzou trailed LSU by 11 strokes to begin the final round of play and began the comeback effort by shooting 5-under through the first nine holes. On the back nine the Tigers combined for eight birdies to rally back and finish two strokes ahead of LSU to claim the team title.

It’s the ninth Turning Stone Intercollegiate title for Mizzou and the first since 2018. Mizzou has finished as a top-three team at every Turning Stone Intercollegiate since the event’s inaugural tournament in 2009.

Mizzou will be back in action in two weeks as the Tigers travel west to compete at the Husky Invitational in Bremerton, Wa. The Husky Invitational will take place, Sept. 20-21 at the Gold Mountain Golf Club.
