Men’s Golf Claims Team and Individual Titles at Turning Stone Intercollegiate

COLUMBIA, Mo.

Verona, N.Y.– Led by Junior Jack Lundin, the University of Missouri men’s golf team clinched both the team and individual titles at the Tiger Turning Stone Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon. Mizzou dominated the field from the start, posting an event-low, 10-under par 278 the first round and finished with an overall total 17-under par 847 (278-279-290). The Tigers defended their title from last year with the 11-stroke victory over runner-up, Stetson.

Lundin sealed the individual title after carding a career-best 13-under par total of (65-68-70) 203, marking his first individual medalist honor of the season. He tallied a total of 13 birdies while firing the tournament low round of 7-under par 65, in the first round.

“This weekend my goal was just to stay focused on my game and be patient,” said Lundin. “I want to thank both coach Hankins and coach Leroux for coaching me this weekend.”

Following suit, junior Charlie Crockett also tallied all three rounds under-par anchored by 14 birdies for a career-best third place individual finish shooting (70-70-70) 210 total.

 “This weekend I stayed very patient and worked hard at staying positive and in the present which resulted in three solid rounds,” said Crockett.

Grad senior DJ Springer shot rounds of (74-71-73) for a 2-over 218 total in his first tournament for the Tigers. He carded seven birdies for the weekend and finished t12. Also is his first event for Mizzou was Freshman Alfons Bondesson, who posted (72-70-77) 219 for a solid t16 finish.

Graduate senior Tommy Boone posted a solid one under par 71 in the first and followed with rounds of 77-79 for a t31 finish. 

Sophomore Dawson Meek also competed as an individual posting scores of (77-73-73) for a 223 total and a t24 finish.

“We prepared extremely well for this tournament and reaped the rewards, said Coach Mark Hankins. “Jack went low, Charlie played well, and the  rest of the guys all added some great scores for a nice team win.”

It’s the tenth Tiger Turning Stone Intercollegiate title for Mizzou and the second consecutive.
