Men’s Basketball Wins Fifth-Straight by Double-Figures

Batesville, Ark. – For the fifth-straight game, the Columbia College men’s basketball team picked up a double-digit win, defeating Lyon 83-62 on the road.
 
The Cougars are now 13-10 overall and 7-2 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC), while the Scots drop to 8-13 and 3-6 in the conference. 
 
Chima Oduocha made a jump shot, which sparked a quick 8-0 run and gave the Cougars an early 8-0 lead out of the gates. After Lyon battled back and got with one point at 16-15, Columbia went on a 14-6 run and took a 30-21 lead. The Cougar advantage continued to grow, as a Tony Burks 3-pointer gave Columbia a 44-28 lead. Lyon would score a basket with under a minute left, but the Cougars held a double-digit lead at the half, 44-30. 
 
The Cougar lead would reach 19 (49-30) before Lyon got within ten points (51-41) with 12:09 left. Columbia responded with a quick 7-0 run to regain control of the game. The Cougars led by double figures the entire second half, and their lead reached at many as 23 with under a minute left in the game. 
 
Key Moment:
An 8-0 run out of the gate for Columbia gave them an early lead that they never gave up.
