Men’s Basketball Falls at Auburn

Sean East II

Auburn, Ala. – The Missouri men’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a first-half deficit as host Auburn earned an 89-56 victory on Tuesday night. Mizzou drops to 19-7 overall and 7-6 versus SEC foes, while Auburn improves to 18-8 and 8-5 in conference action.

Senior Sean East II led Mizzou with 14 points, while graduate student DeAndre Gholston also scored in double figures with 19 points. Senior Kobe Brown led the Tigers with five rebounds and five assists.

Auburn started the game strong, racing out to a 19-2 lead. The home team added a further 10-0 run shortly before the intermission to head into the locker room with a 45-18 advantage.

The teams played a more competitive second stanza but the halftime deficit was too much for Mizzou to overcome as Auburn prevailed, 89-56.

Auburn made 48.5 percent of its field goals with a 9-of-18 clip from 3-point range. Mizzou, meanwhile, converted just 31.6 percent of its chances and 5-of-22 from beyond the arc.
