Men’s Basketball Dominates Webster

MBB vs. Webster 11-27-21

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men’s basketball team ended a three-game skid, defeating Webster (Mo.), 91-72. The Cougars improve to 5-6 on the season. The game was an exhibition for Webster and did not count towards their record.
 
With the game tied at 16-16 with 13:29 left in the first half, the Gorloks drained a three-point field goal and led 19-16. The Cougars regained the lead (20-19) at the 12:05 mark after back-to-back layups from Cole Gerken and Kemryn Jenkins. The Cougar lead reached double figures for the first time, with 4:09 remaining on a layup from Carson Parker (35-25). CC held on and led by 11 (41-30) at the intermission.
 
The Cougars continued to lead throughout the second half. A jumper from Webster cut the CC lead to single digits (72-63), but a quick 8-0 run pushed the Cougar lead back to double digits, 80-63, with 7:12 left. CC led by double digits the rest of the way and cruised to a 91-72 win.
 
Key Moment:
A first-half layup by Kemryn Jenkins gave CC a 20-19 advantage with 12:05 left. The Cougars never trailed from that point.
 
By the Numbers:
50 – The Cougars brought down a season-high 50 rebounds.
18-9 – CC had 18 assists compared to just nine turnovers.
10 – Columbia saw ten different players score in the game.
19-10 – Carson Parker had 19 points and ten rebounds, recording his second double-double of the season.
