Men’s Basketball Beats UHSP at Home

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men’s basketball team took on the Eutectics tonight in American Midwest Conference action. Going for the season sweep over UHSP, the Cougars rolled to an 82-51 win to improve to 18-8 overall and 10-4 in AMC play. 

Columbia’s offense was firing early as they took a big 39-9 lead before a layup from UHSP put them at double-digits. As time in the first half expired, made baskets from Tony Burks and Collin Parker put the Cougars up 43-21 at halftime. Tony Burks had a game-high 18 points after the first 20-minutes of play. 

In the second half, both teams traded points as the Cougars held a 58-35 lead with 11 minutes left to play. Columbia continued to score as Carson Parker and Collin Parker had success under the basket, extending the lead to 67-42. As time expired, the Cougars had worked to an 82-51 win over UHSP. 

Tony Burks had a game-high 21 points with nine rebounds. Collin Parker followed with 14 points and four rebounds, and Carson Parker contributed 10 points to go along with seven rebounds. 

The Cougars now look to their last regular season contest on Saturday as they travel to Hannibal, Missouri to take on the Trojans.
