COLUMBIA, Mo. – Graduate third baseman Luke Mann and junior pitcher Austin Troesser were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Baseball Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

The 2023 Academic All-District Baseball Teams, selected by the membership of College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.

The duo became the first Missouri baseball standouts to earn Academic All-District recognition since Aaron Senne was selected for the same honor in 2010.

Mann, who is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Positive Psychology, is a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection, who has also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The St. Louis native has participated in the Tiger Leadership Institute and was selected as a team captain, while maintaining a 3.504 grade-point average.

Mann leads Mizzou in hitting (.326), runs scored (51), hits (62), home runs (20) and total bases )134), posting a 1.149 OPS, as well as six steals for the season. He has registered four multi-homer games this spring, including a three-homer, six-RBI performance as part of a four-hit night at No. 11 South Carolina on March 24. Mann moved into the No. 2 position on Mizzou’s all-time home runs list by homering in six straight games, May 2-13.

The Tigers third baseman was named SEC Co-Player of the Week and Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week for the period of May 1-7. He batted .600 with five homers, 12 RBIs and 27 total bases over a four-game stretch in which he homered in each contest.

Troesser has been one of the Tigers’ most dependable relievers this spring, logging a 5-3 record and 50 strikeouts over 20 total appearances. Most notably, he held No. 4 Tennessee hitless over 4 2/3 innings on March 19, fanning a career-best seven batters in a 7-1 win that capped a three-game SEC series sweep. The following week, he limited another top 10 team to one hit over 3.0 innings in a no-decision at No. 9 South Carolina.

The right-hander logged a 3.64 ERA in 29.2 innings spanning 13 outings as a sophomore in 2022. For his Mizzou career, Troesser has compiled an 8-5 mound record to go along with 73 strikeouts (in 74.1 innings), a 4.72 ERA and one save.

A Loose Creek, Mo., product, Troesser maintains a 4.00 grade-point average in Agribusiness Management. He is a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll pick and has been named to the Mizzou Dean’s List on five occasions.
