Mann Selected for Preseason All-SEC First-Team Recognition

Luke Mann-Preseason All-SEC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Missouri senior third baseman Luke Mann has been named to the 2023 Preseason All-SEC Baseball First Team, the league announced Thursday.

Mann is coming off a breakthrough 2022 campaign that saw the St. Louis native post career bests in every significant offensive statistical category. His season total of 17 home runs were the most by any Tiger since 2004 and tied for the sixth-best season mark in Mizzou history.

The fifth-year Tiger also scored 48 runs and drove home 43 more—both of which were the second-highest totals on the club. Mann slugged a team-best .595 for the season and ranked second among all SEC batters with his 15 homers in conference play. In addition to his power surge last spring, Mann recorded a .401 on-base percentage, pacing the offense with 28 walks. He also turned in a .974 fielding percentage with only three errors for the season.

Mann became the first Tiger to earn preseason All-SEC honors of any kind since Kameron Misner was a second-team choice in 2018.

Two Preseason All-SEC Teams were selected by a vote of the conference’s head coaches. Ten schools were represented on All-SEC teams, with Texas A&M leading the way with five selections. LSU and Tennessee each totaled four picks, while Florida had three honorees. Arkansas, Florida, LSU and Tennessee each claimed two first-team accolades.

Along with Mann’s preseason honor, the Tigers were picked to finish seventh in the SEC’s Eastern Division by the league’s 14 head coaches. Eleven different SEC teams have been ranked nationally in 2023 preseason polls.
