Klein Earns 500th Win, Cougars Beat Ravens on Road

Columbia, Mo. – Columbia College men’s and women’s soccer head coach John Klein earned his 500th career victory this evening against Benedictine College (Kan.). The No. 12-ranked Cougar women’s soccer team remains undefeated on the season, capturing a 2-0 shutout over the Ravens.

In his 24th season as head coach, Klein has a combined record of 500-162-52. Klein ranks fourth on the NAIA Men’s Soccer Winningest Active Coaches list holding a record of 319-116-42. On the women’s side, he has produced a record of 181-46-11 in 11 years of play.

Since his arrival at Columbia College, Klein has received AMC Coach of the Year honors 12 times, totaled 22 NAIA National Tournament appearances, and produced 70 NAIA All-Americans. 

With Klein at the helm of Columbia College soccer, the Cougars have totaled 19 Regular Season Conference Championships and 19 Conference Tournament Championships.

Columbia took 12 shots in the first half, while conquering two.

Delfina Zolesio Fernandez Blanco put the Cougars on the board in the 28th minute as a result of a penalty kick, taking a 1-0 advantage.

Just moments later, Juana Wulff secured her second goal of the season, putting up the final goal of the contest. 

The Cougars held the Ravens to seven total shots in the game, leading Columbia to a 2-0 victory. 

The Cougars will host No. 23-ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at the Third Annual Meet at The Marv on Thursday, September 7 at 6:00 p.m. Head Coach John Klein will be honored before the match for his 500th win!
