Hu, Moore Event Winners against No. 10 Kentucky

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The No. 14 University of Missouri gymnastics team returned home to face No. 10 Kentucky on Friday at Hearnes Center. The Tigers kept pace with the Wildcats, but ultimately fell 197.325 to 196.600 in a narrow duel.

VAULT

The Tigers’ vault rotation scored a collective 49.325, edging the Wildcats in the opening event. Missouri was led by sophomores Jocelyn Moore and Amari Celestine — who each scored a season-high 9.950 and 9.875, respectively. 

Graduate student Hannah McCrary (9.850), junior Sienna Schreiber (9.850), sophomore Grace Anne Davis (9.800) and junior Sydney Schaffer (9.725) also competed in the rotation.

BARS

Missouri continued its outing with the bar rotation, led by senior Helen Hu in the anchor spot with a 9.900 score. Moore and Schreiber finished narrowly behind her — both scoring 9.850.

Graduate student Alisa Sheremeta (9.825), Celestine (9.775) and freshman Addison Lawrence (9.300) additionally partook in the event. The Tigers finished their second rotation with a 98.525.

BEAM

In the beam rotation, Hu led the Tigers once again with a 9.950 finish. Davis finished slightly behind her with a 9.825, followed by Sheremeta and Schreiber each scoring 9.700.

McCrary (9.500) and Lawrence (9.150) also led off the rotation. Missouri scored 48.675 as a unit to enter the final rotation with a score of 147.200.

FLOOR

Mizzou rounded out the meet on floor with Schrieber tallying a 9.875 in the leadoff spot. Both Sheremeta and Celestine topped the Tiger scoreboard with 9.925 finishes. 

Sophomore Alonna Kratzer (9.825), Moore (9.775) and McCrary (9.850) all contributed to the last push to collectively post a rotation team score of 49.400 — beating out the Wildcats in the final event. 

UP NEXT

The Tigers will hit the road next Friday to take on No. 2 Florida in Gainesville, Fla. The meet will start at 6 p.m., and will be broadcast on SEC Network.
