Gymnastics Take on Georgia in Home Opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 14 University of Missouri gymnastics team is set to host its first Southeastern Conference opponent this week, as the Tigers welcome the No. 20 Georgia Gymdogs to the Hearnes Center. The meet is scheduled for Friday Jan. 13, with the first vault starting at 6 p.m. CT. The meet will air on the SEC Network with Bridget Sloan and Alex Perlman on the call.

SERIES SNAPSHOT

  • In the all-time series against Georgia, the Tigers trail the Gymdogs 5-23.
  • The last three times the two sides have met Mizzou has walked away with the victory each time, including its first-ever win at Georgia during the 2022 season.

MIZZOU NOTABLES

  • Last week meets 196.425 ties for the second highest score opening score ever. Last season Tigers the recorded it’s highest season opener at 196.600
  • Three freshmen saw their debut last week. Casey Poddig, Addison Lawrence and Mackenzie Patricelli all saw in action against Illinois.
  • The Tigers are carrying over their success from the 2022 season, by opening the 2023 season off by setting a new beam program record of 49.525. The Tigers’ previous beam record of 49.500 was set in 2017 against Kentucky.
  • The Tigers are currently tied for first on beam, along with the raining national champion Oklahoma and Denver.
  • Mizzou has scored 49.000 or better on beam for 21 consecutive meets, this streak is dating back to the 2021 season.
