Gallagher Named to SEC Softball Community Service Team

AUBURN, Ala. – University of Missouri softball senior Maddie Gallagher was named to the SEC Community Service Team, the league announced Tuesday.

Gallagher, Mizzou’s starting second baseman, has donated a significant amount of her time as a Tiger to the Columbia Community.

The Port Washington, New York, native, has volunteered with Special Olympics, the Norm Stewart Classic basketball tournament, Columbia Public Schools, and the 2023 SEC Football Championship.

With Special Olympics, Gallagher has volunteered with a multitude of sports including softball and basketball.

She was also one of six SEC student-athletes that assisted in various roles at the SEC Championship Game between Alabama and Georgia Dec. 2, 2023, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Gallagher will graduate this August with a Bachelor’s in Parks, Recreation, Sport & Tourism – Sport Management. In the classroom, she has been named to the SEC Honor Roll two times including the First Year Honor Roll in 2020-21. Gallagher has also been named to the Spring and Fall 2023 University of Missouri Dean’s List and was tabbed a 2023 NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Mizzou earned the fifth seed in this week’s 2024 SEC Tournament and will play the winner of No. 12 seed Kentucky and No. 13 Ole Miss Wednesday in the second game of the day (35 minutes following game two at 10 a.m., CT). The Tournament will run May 7-11 at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama.
