Four Named AMC Players of the Week

St. Louis, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the conference players of the week for the the week ending April 17. The Cougars swept the softball awards as Athena Wheeler was named AMC Player of the Week and Ella Schouten won AMC Pitcher of the Week. Andrew Paten won AMC Baseball Pitcher of the Week and Alexander Dukes took home AMC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. 

AMC Softball Player of the Week
Athena Wheeler, Columbia (Mo.)
Fr. | Columbia, Mo.

• Went 4-5 at the plate, leading the Cougars to a pair of wins against Stephens.
• Drilled two home runs and drove in seven runs, while scoring three times.
• Hit .800 on the week with an on-base percentage of .833 and 2.000 slugging percentage.

AMC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Ella Schouten, Columbia (Mo.)
Fr. | Columbia, Mo.

• Went 1-0 on the week.
• Tossed a seven-inning complete-game shutout against Stephens
• Struck out eight in the game and did not walk a hitter.

AMC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Alexander Dukes, Columbia (Mo.)
Jr. | Mexico, Mo.

• Competed in one event at the UCM Mule Relays.
• Finished third out of 26 runners in the 10,000-meter run.
• Qualified for the NAIA National Championships by hitting the “A” standard in a time of 31:13.92.

AMC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Andrew Paten, Columbia
Sr. | Columbia, Mo.

• Appeared in two games on the mound.
• Tossed a total of 7.2 innings without allowing a run and allowed just three hits.
• Struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.
