Four Cougars Score in Double Figures in Road Win

St. Louis, Mo. – The Columbia College men’s basketball team had four players score in double figures in a 76-58 victory at Harris-Stowe University Thursday in St. Louis.
 
Collin Parker led the Cougars with 18 points and 10 rebounds for his sixth-double of the season, and moved into ninth on the all-time scoring list with 1,379 points. 
 
Marlon Allen (15 points, nine rebounds), Trendon Tisdale (14) and Harrison Vickers (11) also scored in double figures. The Cougars limited the host to 39.0 percent (23-59) shooting and tied a season-high with 10 steals.
 
Columbia won its seventh-straight game to improve to 23-5 (12-2 AMC), while Harris-Stowe lost its seventh-straight contest and fell to 6-22 (3-11 AMC).
 
Columbia led 13-2 in the opening 4:25, limiting the Hornets to 1-of-6 shooting from the field. Back-to-back lay-ups from Allen made it 17-6, and then a wing three by Isaiah Holden pushed the Cougar lead to 20-8.
 
Harris-Stowe got the lead down to seven (30-23), but Columbia responded to get the lead back to double figures (34-23) on a pair of free-throws by Vickers. The Hornets outscored the Cougars 7-2 to end the half to trim the lead to 36-30. 
 
Allen led Columbia with 10 points while Bennie Amos had 13 for Harris-Stowe. The Cougars shot just 38.2 percent (13-34) from the field in the first half.
 
Columbia’s lead grew to double figures at 46-34 on a three by Tisdale, and then a 7-0 run by the Cougars extended the advantage to 61-42 with 10:33 to play on a bucket by Vickers. Parker’s bucket with 4:04 to play pushed the advantage to 72-52.
 
Bennie Amos (23 points) was the lone player in double figures for Harris-Stowe.
 
The No. 2 seed Cougars host the first round of the 2024 American Midwest Conference (AMC) Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. against an opponent to be determined. 
 
NOTES: Columbia has won six-straight meetings against Harris-Stowe and leads the all-time series 67-7 … The Cougars have recorded 23 wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2018.
