Football Puts Final Touches On Cotton Bowl Game Prep

23 Cotton Bowl Head Coaches Press Conference

ARLINGTON, Texas – All season long, the Missouri football team played under the motto, “Something To Prove.”

For the No. 9 Missouri Tigers (10-2, 6-2 Southeastern Conference), the final opportunity to cap an improbable 2023 campaign awaits in the 88th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

The Tigers will face the No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten Conference) Friday, December 29th at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Missouri held its final practice Thursday afternoon at AT&T Stadium, concluding a week of workouts and Classic festivities here in North Texas.

“It’s been exactly what you would hope the bowl experience would be – a celebration and culmination of the season,” said Missouri Head Coach Eliah Drinkwitz. “A lot of hard work has been put in. Now, it’s showtime for us to put on and display to the rest of the world who we really are. For this brotherhood, it’s an opportunity for us to finish the season the right way.”

In the first of the New Year’s Six Bowl games, all eyes will be on the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Friday night. For the Tigers of the Show-Me State, a concluding chapter of 2023 is on the horizon to be written.

“It’s a chance for us to leave our legacy in Mizzou football history,” Drinkwitz said. “This is an opportunity in time we’ll never get back. So, we have to seize the moment.”

Prior to Thursday’s workout, Drinkwitz and Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day met jointly with the media at AT&T Stadium.

No. 9 Missouri face No. 7 Ohio State on Friday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN and Tiger Radio Network.

Thursday was a busy day for both head coaches as Drinkwitz and Day started the morning at the Big Play Breakfast, held at the Hilton Anatole, for a short question and answer session with Voice of the Cotton Bowl and the Dallas Cowboys Brad Sham.
