Football Places Three On AP Midseason All-America Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Three University of Missouri football student-athletes – CB Kris Abrams-Draine, WR Luther Burden III and OL Javon Foster were named to the Associated Press Midseason All-America team.

Abrams-Draine and Burden were first-team honorees while Foster snagged second-team accolades.

Abrams-Draine leads the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision with 13 passes defended and is tied for fourth nationally with his four interceptions. He was recently added to the watch list for the Bednarik Award which recognizes the outstanding defensive player college football.

Burden – who also was a unanimous midseason All-America selection by CBS Sports – ranks second nationally with 808 receiving yards and fourth overall with 56 catches. The yardage total represents the most in Mizzou history for any receiver through seven games. He started the season with five consecutive 100-yard receiving performances (Sept. 9-Oct. 7). The St. Louis native’s average of 8.0 receptions per outing leads the SEC and ranks fourth among all FBS receivers this season.

Foster anchors and offensive line which was tabbed for midseason recognition by the Joe Moore Award. The Tigers rank fourth in the SEC averaging 445.4 yards per game while also passing for 305.6 ypg, which also ranks fourth in the conference. Mizzou is allowing under two sacks per game (1.86) which ranks fifth in the SEC.

The No. 20 Tigers return to action this weekend in the battle for the Mayor’s Cup against South Carolina. The game kicks off from a sold out Faurot Field/Memorial Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 21. MU celebrates its 112th homecoming with the annual parade starting the day at 9 a.m. through the streets of Downtown Columbia.
