Fleur van Beek Wins Tulane Classic

Fleur van Beek

Freshman Fluer van Beek of the University of Missouri women’s golf team claimed her first career title on Tuesday afternoon, finishing first at the Tulane Classic.

After three days of play, van Beek, who entered the final round at two-under, carded a one-under 71 on all three days to finish three-under (213), her second event under par in her rookie season. The freshman tallied three birdies during the third round to collect 10 during the entire tournament – finishing two strokes ahead of Notre Dame’s Lauren Beaudrea in second place.

It marks the first time a Mizzou freshman has claimed individual medalist at a tournament since Amelia Moses at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational in 1997.

Sophomore Addie Dobson tied for 11th with a six-over total (75-72-75). Junior Ffion Tynan carded an even 72 in the last round to place 18th at seven-over (74-77-72) and senior Emily Staples also placed 18th at +7 (71-75-77).

Overall, the Tigers placed third of 17 schools as a team with an 885 (+21) over the three rounds. No. 50 Colorado State rallied back late in the third round to win with an 882 (+18).
