23 FB Preseason All-SEC (Wide)

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Five University of Missouri football student-athletes earned preseason All-Southeastern Conference honors Friday as the league announced its preseason media honors.

DB Kris Abrams-Draine, OL Javon Foster, LB Ty’Ron Hopper and PK Harrison Mevis all earned second-team honors while DL Darius Robinson was a third-team honoree.

Foster and Mevis were preseason, third-team selections in 2022. Abrams-Draine, Foster and Robinson represented the Tigers at media day in Nashville on Monday.

Abrams-Draine was second in the SEC a year ago with 14 pass breakups, a mark which tied for ninth nationally and was the third-best, single-season effort in Mizzou history. He also earned preseason First-Team All-SEC honors from Phil Steele and Fourth-Team All-SEC accolades from Athlon Sports.

Foster was a 13-game starter a year ago at left tackle and has 37 career appearances for the Tigers. Athlon Sports named him First-Team Preseason All-SEC while Phil Steele awarded second-team honors.

Athlon made Hopper a preseason Third-Team All-America selection and a First Team All SEC honoree. He earned Phil Steele Third-Team Preseason All-SEC awards. He was graded as the No. 2 returning linebacker in the league by PFF College – behind teammate Chad Bailey.

Mevis enters the season tied for second in program history with 61 career field goals made. His 10 career boots of 50 yards or more is four more than anyone in program history. The two-time Lou Groza Award semifinalist also earned preseason Second-Team All-SEC honors from Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.

Robinson was rated as the No. 3 returning defensive tackle in the SEC by PFF College. He also was named preseason Second-Team All-SEC by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.

The league also released its preseason media poll where Mizzou was picked to finish sixth in the SEC East with 658 points. Georgia (2,011) was the overwhelming favorite to repeat in the division and as conference champions. The SEC Championship Game is set to take place on December 2, 2023, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
