Eight Honored as AMC Announces Women’s Soccer All-Conference & Season Awards

Columbia, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the members of the 2021 AMC Women’s Soccer All-Conference & Season Award winners.

The Cougars placed an AMC-best six players on the All-AMC First-Team. In addition, the Cougars took home three of the five special awards.

*All stats are prior to the AMC Championship game that took place on Thursday, Nov. 11*

Kate Marshall made the All-AMC First Team for the third time in her career. Marshall has appeared in 17 games on the season, allowing just eight goals and has .06 goals against average.

Greta Haarmann is appearing on the All-AMC team for the first time in her career. Haarmann has tallied three goals and dished out two assists as a defender for the Cougars. She has been the anchor of the defense that has picked up ten shutouts on the season.

Earning First-Team honors for the fourth time, Abigail Meyer was another key piece in the Cougar defense that had ten shutouts and allowed just ten goals on the season. In addition, she scored one goal and assisted on three others.

Emilia Zolesio Fernandez Blanco scored a goal and added a team-best eight assists as a defensive midfielder. Zolesio received All-AMC honors for the first time in her career.

Jewel Morelan became a three-time All-AMC First-Team player after scoring a team-best 14 goals on the season and handing out six assists for 34 points. She ranked in the top-two in the AMC in goals, assists and points. In addition, Morelan became the 7th Cougar to win AMC Women’s Soccer Player of the Year. An award she took home in 2020. She joins Laurie Frew as the only two Cougars with multiple AMC Player of the Year honors.

Macie Lucas earned All-AMC First-Team honors and was named AMC Freshman of the Year after a season that saw her finish in the top-four in the AMC in points (30), finished sixth in goals with 11 and tallied eight assists. Lucas is the first Freshman of the Year from CC since 2019 (Jewel Morelan) and the 7th Cougar all time.  

Maddy Schrader becomes the second Cougar, joining Stephanie Hale in 2012, to win AMC Newcomer of the Year. Schrader, a transfer from Maryville University, scored seven goals on 16 shots, adding an assists and racked up two game-winning goals.

Chloe Hall earned a spot on the AMC Champions of Character Team.
