NCAA SB: Mizzou Tigers vs. Bradley

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 15/8 University of Missouri softball (16-4) infielder Kara Daly received SEC Freshman of the Week honors after a big weekend at the Mizzou Tournament, the Southeastern Conference announced on Monday.

Daly went 7-for-11 (.636) at the plate with a double, four home runs and nine RBI while slugging 1.818 on the weekend. She homered in each game of the tournament after making her Mizzou Softball Stadium debut in the first game of the weekend.

In the first game of the weekend against St. Thomas, the Jefferson City, Missouri product crushed a three-run home run to left field in the second inning, putting the Tigers up by six. She went 2-for-3 on the day while setting a new career-high with three RBI.

Daly got the scoring started against Bradley in the second game of the weekend, singling through the left side to bring home Wilmes. In the fifth inning, her two-run home run would put the game out of reach at 6-1. She again went 2-for-3 while matching her career-high of three RBI that she set in the previous game.

In the next game of the doubleheader against St. Thomas, Daly crushed a two-run shot to left field in the first inning. She was one of four Tiger home runs in the inning and one of seven on the day.

In the weekend finale, Daly once again showed off her power with a solo home run in the third inning to put Mizzou on top by five runs. She then added a two-out double to right field in the fifth inning, marking her first game with multiple extra-base hits.

Daly was a highly touted prospect out of Jefferson City High School. She was ranked as the 54th prospect in the country by Extra Innings Softball and the 93rd overall prospect by Softball America.
