Dahlgren Sets Pool Record in Day One of SEC Championship

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 22/RV University of Missouri men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams sit in fifth and ninth places, respectively after the first day of the SEC Championships in College Station, Texas. The men’s team has 126 points, while the women’s has 105.

The women’s 200 medley relay of senior Meredith Rees, graduate student Holley Dennis, sophomore Taylor Williams and senior Alex Moderski took ninth place with a time of 1:36.80. The Tigers earned a B cut with this time.  

The men’s 200 medley relay of graduate student Eric Storms, senior Ben Patton, graduate student Clement Secchi and senior Kevin Hammer took sixth place with a time of 1:23.28. The Tigers also earned an A cut with this time, punching their ticket to the NCAA Championships. 

The women’s 800 free relay of graduate student Molly Gownas, senior Macy Rink, junior Sierra Smith and sophomore Abbey Taute finished in tenth with a time of 7:12.25. 

The men’s 800 free relay of graduate student Jack Dahlgren,  junior Freddie Rindshoej, sophomore Grant Bochenski and Secchi finished in sixth with a time of 6:15.71. In the leadoff position, Dahlgren set a new pool record in the 200 free with a time of 1:31.17. The Tigers also earned an A cut with this time punching their ticket to the NCAA Championships. 

On the first day of diving, on one-meter senior Carlo Lopez finished fifth, while junior Jude Dierker finished 21st and Collier Dyer placed 24th. Over on the women’s side freshman Kamryn Wong finished ninth and junior Kayla Wilson finished 16th on the three-meter. 

UP NEXT

Day two of the SEC Championships kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 9:30 a.m. with prelims for the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free, followed by women’s 1-meter prelims at 11 a.m. CT. Finals start at 5:30 p.m. CT.
