Dahlgren Named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Jack Dahlgren was honored by the Southeastern Conference as the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s swimming and diving at the 2022 SEC Championships on Feb. 18.

Dahlgren holds a 3.878 GPA in the combined undergraduate/graduate mechanical engineering program. He has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll every year and the university’s Dean’s list every semester.

Leading up to this season’s SEC Championships, Dahlgren held the 11th fastest time in the nation in the 200 free (1:33.55), 11th fastest time in the 200 back (1:40.96) and the 14th fastest time in the 100 free (42.43).

Dahlgren finished fifth in the 200 free at this year’s SEC Championships. He will swim in the A final of the 100 back Friday night and will be the No. 1 seed in the 200 back prelims on Saturday.

Dahlgren, a three-time NCAA qualifier, holds one First Team All-America honor and six All-America Honorable Mention accolades. He also holds the 800 free relay school record as part of the 2019 relay team. Dahlgren holds the second fastest 200 back and 200 free times and the third fastest 100 free and 100 back times in program history.
