Cross Country Travels East for XC 23 Pre Nationals

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Cross Country travels to Charlottesville, Va. for the XC 23 Pre Nationals on Saturday at Panorama Farms.

The men’s 8k will begin at 7:45 a.m. with the women’s 6k to follow at 9:30 a.m.

Missouri will send 19 athletes on the road trip with nine men and 10 women entering the race.

The sophomore duo of Drew Rogers and Ryder James headline the Missouri men in action. Rogers, an All-SEC Freshman Team member a season ago, has led the Tigers in the opening two races of the season. Rogers paced the entirety of the field in the Mizzou XC Opener with a 6k time of 18:14.8 and led Missouri with a 14th-place finish (24:29.9) in the Gans Creek Classic 8k.

James has impressed early in his second-year campaign. The Paxton, Ill. native placed fourth overall in the season opener at 18:18.6 and was the second Tiger across the line in the classic with a time of 24:37.3.

Mikayla Reed and Jenna Schwartz will lead the women’s squad into the competition.

Reed was the first Tiger to the line at the classic as she notched a 12th-place finish with a 6k time of 21:25.2. The senior placed third in the field at the season opener with a 5k time of 17:49.1.

Schwartz notched a second-place finish in the opener with a time of 17:49.0 and followed it up with a 21st-place result (21:43.0) at the classic.

Panorama Farms will serve as the host site for the 2023 NCAA Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 18.
