Cross Country Claims Pair of First Place Finishes in Season Opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Cross Country began its 2023 crusade with a pair of first place finishes in the Mizzou XC Opener on Friday at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.

Coaches Kyle Levermore, Page Duca, and Tanner Anderson made their Tiger coaching debut on the day.


  • Sophomore Drew Rogers claimed the top spot of this year’s opener with a time of 18:14.8 to lead the way for the Tigers.
  • Junior Blake Morris recorded a time of 18:14.9, crossing the finish line only seconds behind his teammate to grab the number two spot on the board.
  • Logging a fourth place finish, sophomore Ryder James began his season in stride with a time of 18:18.6.
  • Sophomore Lydia Roller lead the way for the women’s squad to claim first place with a time of 17:47.3
  • Fourth-year Tiger Jenna Schwartz snagged second place finish to open the season with a time of 17:49.0
  • Graduate Student Mikayla Reed pushed her way through the finish line to secure a third place finish with a time of 17:49.1
