Cross Country Announces 2024 Home Meet Schedule

Mizzou men's cross country team runs at Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri cross country team announced its 2024 home slate Monday afternoon with a pair of regular-season meets set to take place in Columbia this fall.

The Tigers open the 2024 campaign with the Mizzou XC Opener on Aug. 30 followed by the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 27. Both events will take place at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.

“Our staff is excited to share the 2024 home cross country schedule,” cross country coach Kyle Levermore said. “As we build toward the upcoming season and hosting the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2025, it is our intention to elevate the standard and showcase what a cross country meet can be. The Gans Creek Cross Country Course is built for a world-class competitor and spectator experience.”

In the program’s first year under the leadership of Levermore, Paige Duca and Tanner Anderson, Mizzou excelled in both of its 2023 home races at Gans Creek, as the men’s and women’s teams both opened the campaign with a first-place finish in August’s Mizzou XC Opener. At the Gans Creek Classic in September, the Tigers earned a pair of team top-five finishes, with the women claiming second place and the men taking fifth.

Mizzou has hosted a meet in Columbia every year since 2019, and the program has hosted multiple events four of the last five seasons. MU has positioned Gans Creek Cross Country Course as one of the premier cross country venues in the country, hosting the 2021 SEC Cross Country Championships and the 2022 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships ahead of putting on the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
