Cougars Run Away With Fifth Set, Complete Reverse Sweep

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The No. 13-ranked Cougars of Columbia College traveled to take on the Statesmen of William Penn University today in non-conference action. After dropping the first two sets, the Cougars stormed back to take sets three and four, also fighting off match-point in the fourth. Then, the Cougars ran away with the fifth set to earn the 3-2 win.

Five different players set season and career highs in the win for Columbia:

  • Allana Capella – career high kills and career high digs
  • Agatha Emanuelle – career high kills
  • Abby Massengill – season high kills
  • Ellie Rockers – season high digs
  • Luisa Ferreira – season high kills and season high assists

The Cougars had a strong offensive showing as five different players registered double-digit kills. 

Allana Capella led the way for Columbia with a team-high 18 kills to go along with a match-high 26 digs. 

Abby Massengill and Sude Gundogan both finished with 13 kills each, respectively. 

Ellie Rockers contributed 12 kills with 25 digs. 

Agatha Emanuelle totaled 10 kills. 

Luisa Ferreira was all over the court for CC, finishing with 58 assists, eight digs, and seven kills with zero errors on a .500 hitting percentage. 

Defensively, Magdalena Bostal picked up 16 digs while Clara Gower added 12 digs of her own.
