Cougars Remain Undefeated in AMC Tournament Play, Advance to Ninth-Consecutive Title Game

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College softball team continued their winning ways in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Softball Tournament this afternoon, upsetting No. 2 seeded Missouri Baptist, 2-1. The win, combined with another loss by Missouri Baptist, means the Cougars have earned an automatic berth to the NAIA Softball Opening Round for the sixth season in a row.

  • AMC co-Pitcher of the Year Ella Schouten added nine strikeouts, while also striking out the final batter of the contest
  • Bailey Merritt went 3-4 at the plate, scoring one run
  • Abigail Pringer, Emily King, Tasia Green, and Jazlin Gottman each provided one hit
  • A sacrifice fly from Athena Wheeler scored the winning run of the contest in Abigail Pringer

 
Columbia (23-17) is set to play Cottey College (Mo.) in the championship game tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
 
The Cougars remain unbeaten in AMC tournament play, recording a 1-0 win over the Comets yesterday. Columbia looks to secure their sixth-straight AMC Tournament title.
