Cougars Pick Up 20th Win of Season

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men’s basketball team had three players score in double figures as the Cougars picked up their 20th win of the season in a 74-45 victory over Hannibal LaGrange University Thursday at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
 
Collin Parker had a game-high 21 points on 10-of-15 field goals, while Trever Moore (14 points) and Isaiah Holden (12) also scored in double figures for Cougars
 
Columbia outrebounded the Trojans 47-23 and had a 38-10 advantage in points in the paint.
 
Columbia won its fourth-straight game to improve to 20-5 (10-2 AMC), while Hannibal-LaGrange dropped its third game contest and fell to 6-15 (3-9 AMC).
 
Holden had seven points in the opening six minutes of play and his second three of the game gave the Cougars an early 13-10 lead. Five-straight points by the Trojans tied the contest at 17-17, and then a three by Janssen Flotow gave Hannibal-LaGrange its first lead at 23-21.
 
The Parker Brothers – Carson (five points, 34) and Collin (six points, 32) – combined for 11-straight points as the Columbia lead grew to 34-25 with 2:04 left before half.
 
The Cougars took a 34-28 lead to the locker room behind nine points from Moore and eight apiece from Holden and Collin Parker. Columbia dominated the paint in the first half, outscoring Hannibal-LaGrange 20-4.
 
Hannibal-LaGrange trimmed the lead to 43-39 with less than 16 minutes left, but an 11-0 run by the Cougars pushed the advantage back into double figures at 54-39 with 12:22 left.
 
Columbia put the game out of reach with a 10-0 run to push the lead to 64-43. The Cougars forced Hannibal LaGrange to miss 19 of its last 20 shots from the field, and outscored HLG 40-17 in the second half.
 
Flotow had 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting for Hannibal-LaGrange, who shot 30.9 percent (17-55) from the field in the loss.
 
The Cougars celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 17 against William Woods University. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
 
NOTES: Columbia has won 12-straight meetings against Hannibal-LaGrange and leads the all-time series 75-12 … The Cougars have won 20 or more games in three-consecutive seasons.
