Cougars Finish Week Undefeated, Beat Vikings on Road

Canton, MO – The Columbia College women’s basketball team was on the campus of Culver-Stockton College tonight for their second game of the Atrium on Third Classic, this time against the Vikings of Missouri Valley College. 

After defeated tournament host Culver-Stockton last night, the Cougars continued their winning ways with another dominant performance tonight by more than doubling-up on the Vikings as they rolled to a 53-point win, 94-41. 

The Cougars led the Vikings in almost every statistical category: rebounds (56-40), steals (7-5), assists (21-5), field goal percentage (45.5%-22.2%), three-point percentage (33.3%-9.5%), and free throw percentage (61.9%-61.1%).

One of the most notable performances of the night was that in the Cougar non-starters, as they outscored the Viking bench 42-17. 

DeLaney Horstman was once again near a double-double with 19 points and eight rebounds while also blocking two shots. 

Mallory Shetley was all over the box score, finishing with 13 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. 

Lexi Miller came off the bench to total 17 points, nearing her career-high of 19 from last season.

Christina Maltsberger was 3-4 from beyond the arc to finish with nine points. 

Allison Stiers added eight points, four steals, and four assists. 

The Cougars improve to 3-0 on the season while the Vikings fall to 1-1. 

NOTES: Columbia leads the all-time series against Missouri Valley 12-2 and have not lost since the 2007-08 season…the Cougars have held their opponents to just 26% shooting (47-181) through three games…CC’s bench has outscored all opponent benches 92-40
