Cougars Fall to MBU in AMC Tournament Final

St. Louis, Mo. – The Columbia College Volleyball team fell in the Championship round of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. The Cougars drop to 30-8, while (3) Missouri Baptist improves to 27-2.
 
Despite the loss, the Cougars have earned an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 20, at campus sites across the country.
 
Missouri Baptist def. Columbia, 3-0
Set 1: Columbia 15 | Missouri Baptist 25
The Cougars led early, 4-2, but five-straight points by the Spartans gave them the lead for the rest of the set. CC battled back to within two points (11-9) before MBU ran off four-straight to claim a six-point advantage and cruise to the first set win.
 
Set 2: Columbia 17 | Missouri Baptist 25
The Spartans jumped out to an 11-5 lead before CC closed within 12-10. The Spartans responded with four straight to reclaim their big lead. The Cougars could not slow down MBU, who went on for the set two victory.
 
Set. 3: Columbia 10 | Missouri Baptist 25
The final set was all Missouri Baptist. After the two teams split the first four points, the Spartans scored six-straight to take an 8-2 advantage. The Spartans used that momentum and never looked back.
