Cougars Fall at No. 24 Missouri Baptist

St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 12-ranked Columbia College men’s soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss at No. 24 Missouri Baptist University in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play Saturday in St. Louis.

Missouri Baptist improved to 5-1-3 (2-0 AMC) with the win, while Columbia fell to 5-2-3 (1-1 AMC).

Columbia outshot Missouri Baptist 16-13, as each team had five shots on goal, and the Cougars had the 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Missouri Baptist struck first in the 28th minute after a foul was called in the box that resulted in a penalty kick by Marko Dordevic.

Columbia outshot Missouri Baptist 6-5 in the first half and each team had two corner kicks. 

The Cougars put together a few opportunities in the second half, but it was the Spartans who added the insurance goal in the 82nd minute after Keegan Ranney found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Alejandro Molto Munoz (3-1-2) suffered the loss in goal for the Cougars making three saves.

The Cougars host Williams Baptist University in AMC play on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2:30 p.m.

NOTES: The win for Missouri Baptist was the second in program history over Columbia (2-37-3) … The Cougars are 1-1-2 against ranked teams this season.
