Cougars Earn Two Ranked Wins Over Spartans and Eagles

Columbia, MO – The 15th-ranked Cougars of Columbia College played host to the #9-ranked Spartans of Missouri Baptist University and the #21-ranked Eagles of Central Methodist University today. 

The two wins move Columbia to 25-6 on the season, with one more regular season contest. The Cougars will travel to Hannibal tomorrow to take on the Trojans of HLGU to close out the regular season.

In their first match, the Cougars won an extended first-set against the Spartans and rolled to a 3-0 sweep over #9 MBU (33-31, 25-20, 25-14). 

Allana Capella’s double-double led the way for the Cougars as she finished with 13 kills and 14 digs. 

Alayna Rooks also finished with 13 kills on a .333 hitting percentage. 

Ellie Rockers contributed eight kills with 10 digs.  Agatha Emanuelle totaled six kills and four blocks. 

Magdalena Bostal picked up 12 digs for the Cougars.  Luisa Ferreira dished out 38 assists. 

In game two, the Cougars took the first two sets from the Eagles before dropping the third. CC rebounded to win the fourth set and with it, the match, 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 14-25, 25-13).

Columbia had contributions from many players in the win. 

Ellie Rockers led the team with 14 kills and 17 digs. 

Alayna Rooks hit double-digit kills again, this time with 12, while also registering five block assists. 

Agatha Emanuelle chipped in six kills with five block assists.  Allana Capella finished with six kills and nine digs. 

Luisa Ferreira totaled 42 assists, 19 digs, and six kills on a .333 hitting percentage. 

Magdalena Bostal was also in double-digit digs, finishing with 17.
