O’Fallon, Mo. – The Columbia College baseball team was knocked out of the AMC Tournament tonight as they suffered their second loss of the tournament, this time to the Eagles of Williams Baptist.

In game one of the day, the Cougars faced off against the Owls of William Woods University. In a back and forth contest, the Cougars were trailing 6-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth.

A two RBI single from David Dell scored Bailey Quint and Brayden McGinnis, cutting the WWU lead to 6-5. Then, Devyn Lopez capitalized on an error and scored to tie the game at 6-6.

After a scoreless ninth inning, the game headed into extra innings. William Woods used an RBI single to notch one run to take back the lead at 7-6.

With two outs, Cayden Nicoletto stepped up the plate and launched a two-run home run for the walk-off winner, 8-7.

The win put the Cougars into game eight where they then faced off against the Eagles of Williams Baptist.

The Eagles scored first with a two-run single to take a 2-0 lead. From there, both teams were scoreless heading into the ninth inning.

The Cougars recorded three outs with the Eagles leaving two on base. A Tyler Renn double got the inning started for Columbia.

Danny Ortega got on base with a walk, then Duffin Makings came in to pinch run.

Nick Fleckenstein grounded out, but both Makings and Renn advanced to second and third; however, Devyn Lopez popped out to first base to end the game.
